Smile Doctors Adds Six New Affiliates

Smile Doctors, the largest and fastest-growing orthodontic support organization in the U.S., is pleased to announce the addition of six new affiliate practices and one de novo location, further strengthening its national network of partner-led orthodontic care. These partnerships were finalized in Q1 ahead of the recent acquisition of myOrthos, a 70+ location orthodontic service organization, which was announced on March 20, 2025.

Adding 16 locations to the Smile Doctors network, the following six practices have joined:

  • Hatcher & Frey Orthodontics (Virginia) — Led by Drs. William “Bill” Hatcher, Scott Frey, Gregory Hutchins, and Valerie LaScala
  • Local Orthodontics (Tennessee) — Led by Dr. John Marshall Jewett
  • Hughes Orthodontics (Virginia) — Led by Drs. Justin Hughes and Herbert Hughes
  • Zambrano Orthodontics (Florida) — Led by Drs. Jaime Zambrano and Michael Karp
  • GO Orthodontics (Mississippi & Tennessee) — Led by Drs. R. Todd Gililland, Shawn O’Bannon, Morgan W. Gonder, and Shane Radford
  • Eberle Orthodontics (Kentucky) — Led by Dr. Scott J. Eberle

“We’re excited to join a network of like-minded orthodontists committed to delivering exceptional outcomes and compassionate care,” said Dr. Scott Frey of Hatcher & Frey Orthodontics. “Partnering with Smile Doctors gives us access to world-class support systems that allow us to stay focused on what matters most — our patients.”

Additionally, Dr. Amanda Gallagher, in partnership with Smile Doctors, opened a de novo office in The Village of Cross Keys in Baltimore, Maryland. The January opening marked five practice locations for Amanda Gallagher Orthodontics across the state.

“The process of opening this de novo at Cross Keys was our most seamless yet. Every detail of our office and treatment experience was thoughtfully designed to make patients feel welcome, important, and cared for,” Dr. Gallagher said. “I enjoy creating spaces that not only reflect the quality of orthodontic care we provide to our patients and families but are also immersive in beauty to make everyone who walks in the door feel transported outside of the traditional dental or medical model. Patients truly appreciate that, and this experience is part of our practice growth strategy.”

At the close of Q1 2025, Smile Doctors now supports more than 550 practice locations across 36 states, and Smile Doctors CEO J. Hedrick says the groundwork is in place for expansive future growth.

“At Smile Doctors, we’re deeply committed to supporting growth—whether through organic, strategic affiliation, or de novo growth,” said Hedrick. “Our ability to scale and provide robust operational support makes this kind of expansion possible. The Smile Doctors model is designed to empower our orthodontists to pursue their vision and continue delivering transformative care in the communities they serve.”
